There is so much planning happening behind the scenes right now for the rest of 2025, and also even in 2026… We are talking NEW workshop offerings and of course some of your favourites! Days like these can’t be described in words, they can only be felt!

It only feels right after so many new followers recently.

Hello beautiful souls, I’m Emma, the heart and founder of Soulful Sanctuary.

Soulful Sanctuary was born from a deep calling: to create a safe, sacred space where we could come home to ourselves. A place that goes beyond movement — where yoga meets soul work, and every practice is an invitation to slow down, breathe deep, and reconnect.

Our mission? To offer more than just classes. We’re here to hold space — for healing, for being, for becoming. Whether it’s through mindful movement, silent stillness, or connection, you belong here. Always. We aim to create a community that feels like family.

Fun fact: I never actually thought yoga was for me. I was way to into my high intensity and resistance training. Coming from a personal training background with 19 years of experience, I used to say I’d never train in yoga because I didn’t want to ‘analyse’ it — I wanted it to stay sacred and personal. But life had other plans. After a deeply challenging season — grief, motherhood, and navigating the weight of c o v i d — I finally surrendered to yoga, not as a workout, but as healing. The calm I felt was like nothing I’d ever known.
Doing my yoga teacher training wasn’t a career move — it was part of my own recovery. But somewhere along that journey, I realised: this is what I’m here to do. Teaching yoga lights me up in ways I can’t fully explain. It’s become my true calling. And sharing this space with you is one of my greatest joys. ✨

✨ Root to Rise in Summers Evening Yoga at Calke Abbey ✨🌹

What a truly special evening we got to experience together!

We gathered on the earth in front of this beautiful, historic house: to breathe, to move, to feel, to root. And in that rooting, we also rose. In our own time and our own way.

We flowed together, we found stillness together. It was playful, light, and full of softness,  but also an invitation to go deeper within too.

Each mat held a rose, of different colours, and meanings. Placed with intention, but left to chance. And still, somehow, the one that was received was exactly the one that was meant to be. Its colour holding a message just for this season of becoming. A nudge. A mirror. A whisper.

I’m incredibly grateful for every heart that showed up. May you continue to rise long after you roll up your mat. May this experience hold a special space within.

Let’s talk about rest for a moment…
(not the kind that’s all bubble baths + herbal tea, or wine 😉 though yes please to both)

I’m talking about the kind that drops you back into your body.
The kind that slows your breath, softens your shoulders, and reminds you that being is enough.

This weekend I didn’t escape, I arrived.
Out of my head, and back into the truth of my body.
I moved slowly. Breathed deeply.
Felt sun on skin, cool water on ankles, and a whole lot of gratitude in between.

Running a business, home educating three little ones, spinning plates I didn’t even know I owned, rest doesn’t come easily.
And even when it could, I tend to fill the silence. Keep moving. Stay “productive.”

But this weekend whispered otherwise.

It reminded me that soul-rest doesn’t need a gap in your schedule. It needs your presence!

Even a wasp sting couldn’t ruin that revelation 🐝😉
(though let’s just say I had a moment)

Here’s to weekends that feel like medicine.
Here’s to embodied rest.
Here’s to showing up for it, one deep breath at a time.

☀️Summer Solstice magic at Calke Abbey ☀️

Yesterday, under the golden gaze of the longest day, we gathered in the Slip Gardens at @ntcalkeabbey to honour the Summer Solstice — the beginning of a new season and the first of our workshops in partnership with The National Trust.

Surrounded by the beauty of nature, we came together to celebrate the light — not only the sunlight shining down on us all, but the light that lives within each of us. We began with gentle breathwork and meditation, to attune to our inner radiance. With warmth in our hearts and earth beneath our feet, we moved through a solar-inspired flow, designed to energise, open and ground.

From there, we travelled inward with a guided visualisation to invite the light in more deeply. Journaling allowed us to reflect, and petal-tracing affirmations with our sunflowers gave us space to anchor our intentions — a simple but sacred act of returning home to ourselves.

We closed in circle, heart to heart, soul to soul.

It was a real joy to meet so many new faces and practice alongside familiar ones too. What a blessing to begin this new chapter with such wonderful energy from such beautiful souls.

✨Yoga has held me in moments I didn’t know how to hold myself.✨

It’s given me space when the world felt too loud, and softness when I needed to come home to myself.

Over the years, it’s become so much more than movement or breath on a mat.
It’s in how I pause before I speak.
How I honour rest.
How I move with intention—on and off the mat.

Yoga has become the thread that weaves through my every day.

And somehow… it’s also my work.
But it never feels like “work.”
To share this practice, to witness others in their unfolding, to be trusted with their presence—
it’s the deepest honour.

To those who have shown up beside me, who have let me guide them, and who remind me daily of the beauty of this path—thank you.

So many of you have been asking, so here’s are a few of my go-to exercises for building strength and stability. These are shared with the assumption that you’re injury-free and have experience with this kind of movement.

Please honour your body and only explore what feels safe and appropriate for you.

You can do these in a circuit format, working towards completing 12-15 of each. You can then take a short rest (1-2minutes) and work through them again.

Think: quality > quantity
Focus: slow, steady, connected breath
Intention: strong from the inside out

When two people share a vision, beautiful things begin to bloom…

If this wasn’t the Sunday afternoon of dreams, then I have no idea what is!

We began our time together with a gentle yoga flow, designed to ground and connect us to the earth beneath us. With the breeze drifting through, sunshine filtering in, and the scent of fresh blooms nearby, it was the perfect setting to slow down and breathe.

Afterwards, we were treated to a wander through the flower field @theleicestershireflowerfarm, being able to pick our favourites and let intuition guide us, to then create our own hand-tied bouquets — each one as unique as the person who made it.

Thank you to everyone who came and made it such a wonderful experience. Until next time — keep blooming in your own time.

And a huge thank you, last but by no means least to Charlotte. Thank you so much for sharing your beautifully unique and special space with us today. ✨ Read to the end …. ✨

This #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, I reflect on my own journey of healing, through which yoga and nature have very much been my anchors. Through each breath, each stretch, and every peaceful moment spent outdoors and on the mat, I found my path to more balance and peace within.

So now, it feels like a true blessing to be able to offer the same healing to others through Soulful Sanctuary.

We are more than just a yoga studio — we’re a sanctuary for healing, growth, and connection. Our space and our experiences are nurturing and supportive and are designed to uplift the body, calm the mind, and nourish the soul.

I truly believe that everyone deserves a space to reconnect with themselves, find peace, and nurture their mental well-being.

So here are a few journaling prompts to explore what supports your mental health:

Utilising the energies of the New Moon, we breathed our way to stillness, before flowing into creativity. Followed up with a nourishing light lunch before weaving our way into creativity. And just look at those creations!

The backdrop of a beautiful setting, glorious weather, nature blooming all around us, and the birds singing couldn’t have helped to bring our vision to life anymore than it did!

The Gasworks itself is surrounded by a well managed woodland which is delightful for a stroll around. Pop 2 minutes up the lane and you’ll arrive at Sudbury Courtyard, where there’s a fabulous cafe (perfect for a spot of lunch!), as well as gorgeous independent shops and studios in historic buildings for you to browse. Beautiful Sudbury Hall is just beyond this, and the village of Sudbury is to the other side of the Gasworks, so there’s plenty to do around the area to make it a wonderful day out too!

Happy Spring Equinox everyone ☀️🌸🙏

Ahhh! The promise of lighter, brighter days. The air is filled with hope and new beginnings, and all around us nature is beginning to emerge from winter, shaking off the last of hibernation and beginning to bloom into life. And so, this true New Year, is the time we are likely feeling called to do the same.

So to celebrate, here is a little 2 minute movement that can be brought into your day beautifully. Incorporating some kind of movement is a great little daily ritual to honour this new season and to step yourself into the energy and flow of it.

Benefits of this 2 minute movement include:
✨ It can be done anywhere, whenever you need it, and helps to ease out any stiffness and stagnant energy in the body and mind.
✨ We shake off any negativity that’s not serving us.
✨ We open ourselves up beautifully and reset ourselves to then step back into our day.
✨ It’s the perfect way to press pause on our day and to connect with ourselves. Often then helping how we go about the rest of our day!

You may even wish to take a few moments at the end to create a little intention to take into the rest of your day with you.

Don’t forget to hit S A V E to be able to come back if at the time when you need it the most.

Here’s to new beginnings, and to honouring ourselves and stepping into being able to shine our light brightly.

The sun shone beautifully for us on our Awaken Day Retreat yesterday and how grateful we all were.

We began our day releasing any limiting beliefs that do not serve us, to allow us to create space for own potentiality. To then spend the afternoon connecting to our own rebirth as we enter this new season.

We had meditations in the woods, vinyasa flow, yin yoga, yoga nidra, journaling, visualisations, cake and art, and not forgetting yummy and nutritious food!

What a truly wonderful day.

“Weave and breathe”, even just saying this calms my mind and body, let alone doing it 😃

The last time Katherine and I collaborated it made the most wonderful Sunday afternoon, with the most beautiful feedback (swipe to take a look.) So i’ve been super excited to share our spin on our second workshop together.

This one is more focused on energy, movement and creativity to step into Spring with, and our hope is that we can do most (or maybe even all) of this outdoors surrounded by countryside and nature (if the great British weather allows 🤞)

Valeria offers a whole range of tools within her sessions, and gives you the opportunity to meet with her to discuss your needs first, as well as experience some of her offerings.

What Valeria doesn’t know about the energetic body, and really connecting to your deepest true self isn’t worth knowing. She has a wealth of information she shares so beautifully, oodles of passion to inspire everybody to take the next steps on their own journey, as well as the worlds biggest heart to help you feel supported too.

Our Self Love Sunday workshop yesterday, as well as fitting in some laughter, goodies, downtime and face masks…. Ahhh what a way to spend a Sunday! Also looked at how we care for ourselves on a deeper level; Our energetic body. From breath work, to perspective and self talk, or acknowledgement and awareness of our emotions.

So let this be your invitation to consider your own acts of self love:
💫 Does the idea of self love bring about those cringey vibes, or is it something that feels important to you? This will highlight your relationship a little more with it.

The end of this makes me cry happy tears every single time! 💖🙏

Throwback to this time last week… (Excuse the mess behind us), but a little behind the scenes of us coming together in our space to bring this vision to life and create a sanctuary for you all.
This day will remain engraved in my heart forever.
Valeria smudged the room, before taking us into the most beautiful guided meditation and prayer (of which is now shared on the wall as our intention for our space and everyone who enters it).
We laughed together, cried together and visualised together.
I’ve always said Soulful Sanctuary has been created with love, and from the soul. Last Saturday was every bit of this, so I hope you enjoy watching a little snippet of that too.

“Love isn’t just something we give to others; It’s the way we meet ourselves with kindness, patience and compassion.” (I saw @yogini__lou share this on a post and thought it was so true and beautiful.)

This week’s practises on the mat have very much been around the theme of love, and opening our heart space, physically and emotionally. Not just because it’s Valentines, but also because as we open the doors of Soulful Sanctuary, we want to be able to spread some love back to the community.
One of our sayings here is “Love Soulfully.” But we know that in order to receive love, we have to have the space to feel it within ourselves, FOR ourselves.

So on this day, how are you showing up for yourself? How can you offer yourself that extra bit of love?

I’m thrilled to be working alongside @justfollowyourjoy to help bring this space and vision to life. You will find Valeria available most days at the studio to be able to offer her various therapy sessions to you all (be sure to give her a follow for more information), as well as flowing with you all for a practice on a Monday morning. She has many exciting ideas to bring to the space around her holistic offerings in the form of workshops, so check out the app regularly to find out more.

This couldn’t have been possible without the amazing support of @adeleandyoga either. She’s been my sounding board and a great source of inspiration too. I’m absolutely blessed to be able to offer you all Adèle’s wonderful practises through her classes and workshop and am thrilled to have her on board.

Im just going to say it.. I feel proud!

I’ve been sharing bits on my stories, but I felt like this deserved a place on the grid.

After one of the tougher weeks last week, I feel like I came out of it actually feeling immensely proud. This felt a bit odd at first.

But, I’m proud of the yoga community for coming together and really showing what the principle and philosophy of yoga is all about.
Proud of my fellow yoga teachers who instead of seeing this time as a competition to get back out into the “business”, have seen it as a chance to collaborate and back each other. And proud of myself, for my mindset in dealing with this.

“When faced with adversity, remember the power of choice. Choose hope, choose strength, and let your decisions shape a brighter tomorrow.”

I will take with me the immense gratitude I have in my heart from being at Calm. The gratitude for my own healing journey, for meeting so many incredible people and for stepping back into what I love.

The healing may take a while from all of this, but now it’s time for the next chapter. There’s some extremely exciting things happening behind the scenes right now. Something I had no idea would happen just one week ago.

I shared these words from The Woman’s Book Of Joy at the end of our yoga practise on Sunday, and thought they conveyed everything over this last week perfectly. >>> to read.

I attended a 'self love' workshop recently led by Emma... From entering the studio to the end of the day I can only describe as magical...From the personal touches or roses and gift bags, to the nibbles, smoothies and a variety of yoga and breathing techniques...I left feeling amazing.
